JPEG IMAGE PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOW ON INSTAGRAM.

At times I am hesitant on trying new items. I enjoy the simpler things is life. As much as I enjoy technology, at times I loath it. But… there are certain moments that I am willing to explore and tryout new items. This is one of those moments.

And what I tried was Instagram. As we all know, Instagram is an online photo-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take a picture, apply a digital filter to it, and share it on a variety of social networking services, including its own and other leading sites such as Facebook or Twitter. A distinctive feature is that it confines photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras.

Recently I had upgraded my BlackBerry cell phone to an Android phone. And while setting my new phone up, I had noticed the application Instagram. Now granted in the past I have “bitched” for lack of a better term about Instagram. How it made everyone that used it think that they was a photographer or model.

But I wanted to see what the hype was all about, and so I decided to set up an account and give it a try. Well…  Let’s just say that I am a fan of it now. Plus I was pleasantly shocked when I had noticed now many of my photography associates use Instagram as well.

It’s a creative way to showcase ones photography work and as well allows one to get a little creative. Granted… It will never replace my Canon camera and gear. But it does come in handy when I am not carrying my camera. So this is one application that I do plan to keep and use from time to time.
